In ODIs, he has 55 runs from 39 innings at No. 6 and below (he is batting there now) from 55 matches, with a highest of 11—his average hovering around that mark as well—he bats in the last two spots here. He has 10 in T20Is from 70, unbeaten 4—the sign of a get-through-that-over batsman and not the must-win-the-game batter. He is still valued for his bowling, not runs. At the domestic first-class level, he has more time at the crease and still bats down the order.

Which is why his impact is measured in wickets.
