Tabraiz Shamsi (born 18 February 1990) is a South African cricketer who bowls left-arm wrist-spin, known for his use of variation and an attacking approach. He has since developed a career off the back of mastering flight, drift, and a sharp googly that confounds both right- and left-hand batsmen. Shamsi established himself as a key white-ball weapon for South Africa and frequently operated in the middle overs to snap partnerships and keep the scoring rates down. He has played in domestic T20 leagues across the globe, thus bringing experience in varied conditions. In his career in T20I and ODI, Shamsi has been a consistent wicket-taker, and his best figures of five wickets in an innings were notched up in last year’s ODI series.

Tabraiz Shamsi ’s Batting Career Stats
Shamsi is a genuinely specialist spinner, and his batting stats are appropriately modest. In tests he has capped 2 matches for 20 runs, not out on many occasions; his highest test score is 18. In ODIs, he has 55 runs from 39 innings at No. 6 and below (he is batting there now) from 55 matches, with a highest of 11—his average hovering around that mark as well—he bats in the last two spots here. He has 10 in T20Is from 70, unbeaten 4—the sign of a get-through-that-over batsman and not the must-win-the-game batter. He is still valued for his bowling, not runs. At the domestic first-class level, he has more time at the crease and still bats down the order.
Test Format Stats
In tests representing South Africa, Tabraiz Shamsi has taken 6 wickets in 2 matches for 483 runs, at an average of 46.33, with the best bowling figures being 3/91. He too has had little chance to bat: 20 runs from 4 innings, high score 18*, largely batting at No. 9 or lower. His test data is limited, but it suggests that his job is spin support.

Which is why his impact is measured in wickets.
